We are pleased to announce that the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) will chair and EUNAVFOR ATALANTA will co-chair the upcoming 52ND SHADE (Shared Awareness and De-confliction) in Bahrain on the 16 and 17 of December 2024 and we kindly encourage you to register without delay.
Objective
The main purpose of this conference is to gather professionals and esteemed experts engaged in Maritime Security in the Indian Ocean and adjacent seas. The conference aims to achieve the following objectives:
- To facilitate the formation and development work of working groups to streamline operations coordination and de-confliction.
- To facilitate the sharing of lessons learnt, and threat awareness within the region.
- To foster the de-confliction of future activities.
- To strengthen the professional network, exchange knowledge on the latest advancements in maritime security, and align objectives accordingly.
Modality
The conference will be conducted to maximize participation from the various stakeholders, both military and civilian through the formation and break-out discussions of the working groups in three main domains: Operations, Intelligence, and Information Sharing. These domains would also host sub-working groups to develop specific products proposed by members. In order to achieve the objectives, the working groups would be facilitated by the lead coordinator from each military operations command to drive conversations and development. A formal read-back to the co-Chairmen of the conference would be convened to seek official endorsements of products. Details of these working groups would be posted on the SHADE website as they are developed. The organizers would solicit suggestions and recommendations from all stakeholders to ensure that the most fruitful discussions and useful products would be generated.
Programme and Agenda
The event will take place in person, with Working Groups scheduled on 16 December from 08:00 to 17:00, followed by a plenary session on 17 December. Finalization of Agenda would be published on the SHADE website by mid November.
