ALERT 51/26 European Union Naval Force Operation ATALANTA has received information that on 12 May 2026 at approximately 18:00 UTC, a Pirate Action Group (PAG) was reportedly preparing to attempt the hijacking of a merchant vessel in the vicinity of Bosaso, Somalia, near position 11°20’N 049°12’E. While Operation ATALANTA is investigating this information, vessels operating in the area are strongly advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, particularly within 100NM off the northern Somali coast, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
