Alert number: 17/25 Date: 21NOV EVENT: MSCIO has received a report about suspicious activity at approximately 550NM Southeast of Mogadishu, Somalia. At about 1615UTC, a skiff was observed following a tanker, closing within 4NM and increasing speed while continuing to shadow the vessel. The tanker implemented BMP-MS measures and subsequently increased distance from the skiff. While Operation ATALANTA is investigating this event, vessels are advised to maintain enhanced vigilance while transiting through the area, implement BMP-MS, and report any suspicious activity to MSCIO and UKMTO.
