ALERT 130/26 MSCIO has received information regarding an incident at approximately 16:37 UTC on 5 October 2026 in the Strait of Hormuz. A tanker reportedly was struck by an unknown projectile, causing a fire in the engine room. The crew are reported to be fighting the fire. No casualties or environmental impact have been reported. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
