ALERT 118/26 MSCIO has received a time-late report regarding an incident on the evening of 28 September 2026 in the Strait of Hormuz. A vessel reportedly was struck by a suspected unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in a fire onboard. The fire has since been extinguished and the vessel is underway. All crew are reported safe, and no environmental impact has been reported. The extent of the damage remains unknown. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
