ALERT 107/26 MSCIO has received information regarding a piracy incident at approximately 09:18 UTC on 10 September 2026, 38NM southwest of Balhaf, Yemen. A merchant vessel has reportedly been hijacked by a Pirate Action Group (PAG). Operation ATALANTA assets are proceeding to the area. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO. UPDATE01: MSCIO has received updated information from the Company Security Officer (CSO) regarding the incident. According to the CSO, following the reported approach by an armed boat with approximately six persons onboard, the crew proceeded to the citadel as a precautionary security measure. A subsequent search of the vessel confirmed that no pirates or unauthorized persons were found onboard. The situation has been resolved, and all crew members are reported safe and well. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
