ALERT 88/26 MSCIO has received information regarding an attack reported approximately 9 NM southeast of Kumzar, Oman, in the Strait of Hormuz, at 19:18 UTC on 05 August 2026. The Master of a tanker reported hearing two explosions while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel and all crew have been confirmed safe, and no environmental damage has been reported. The source and cause of the explosions remain unknown. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
