ALERT 83/26 MSCIO has received information regarding an incident at approximately 23:30 UTC on 31 July 2026, 11NM north east of Limah, Oman. A tanker reportedly was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The projectile struck the port side engine room, causing a fire onboard of which has now been extinguished. The vessel has consequently experienced a blackout on board and currently has no propulsion. All crew have been confirmed safe and well. Vessels operating in the area are advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity or relevant information to MSCIO and UKMTO.
